Hi, I have been an active in sports for many years, however, when it comes to stretching and flexebility, I am really bad! I have been doing martial arts, running, spinning, gym and soccer, and every time i try to touch my toes while my knees are straight, there is absolutely no improvement... I can't last for more than 5 seconds. What can I do to improve my flexibility?

NOTE: If you trying to stretch your hamstrings, 1) your leg should always have a light bend in the knee and 2) there is no reason(s) for toe touching. A VERY MILD stretch prior to exercising is okay. When your done, repeat but be very careful not to overstretch to avoid injury. Going from zero to 100, isn't going to happen. You must be very patient with your body and it will treat you good at the end. Good luck.

I usually do the exercises based on flexibility before the serious workout itself. You get a good warm-up out of it that way as well.

Greetings According to me,Flexibility is one of the main yoga benefits.Yoga Retreat exercises will also improve your concentration and focus. Many people report they are more productive at work and at home for the rest of the day after a session of yoga exercises.Yoga benefits also include a release of stress and tension that our fast paced world often causes.Yoga exercises also give you a greater sense of balance. Hey there! My old gym teacher once told us(the class) that, "if you work out and gain a ton of muscle, you may lose your flexibility. But if you train your flexibility just as hard as you train your muscle, you main be more flexible AND your muscle will be more even(toned)." You should stretch regularly, before and after your workout. If you really want to meet your flexibility goal, then do a separate stretch workout(believe it or not, there is such thing). If you can't touch your toes while keeping your knees straight, do another type of stretch related to the back of your leg, like calf muscle, then your gluts, and some hamstring. Eventually you'll be able to do that. PS: I find hot yoga really help. Hope this help! > This message reply to Alalawi 15/09/2009 show quoted textHi, I have been an active in sports for many years, however, when it comes to stretching and flexebility, I am really bad!
