I have my own complaint about running that's a little different. It's that running is blamed for all the knee problems when in actuality it's not the running that is causing the injuries, but the way people run. The truth is that if you can improve your running technique so that there is minimal impact or undue and unnecessary stress to your knees, you'll never have knee problems. It's that simple.

To my knowledge, if obese ppl were to start running, their knees will be under huge stress due to heavy load. Like others have suggested is to start walking and lose some of the weight before running. If walking is too boring, there's another alternative which is aqua jogging. The water actually relieves alot of pressure on your knees while jogging in it.
