Is it true that if you lift too much weight on your back, it stops you from growing taller ?

If your 4 years old! LOL no excessive weights can give you back problems when your 50 but I don't think you have to worry about that for now. The argument comes from when the Russians were steroiding and over-training their young Olympic athletes in the 70's and 80's and people noticed the repressive growth in their young competitors. Turns out it was the excessive training, excessive weights and the use of steroids specifically at the younger ages. FYI (for your information) a heavy leg press machine (where the weight is not on your neck) will always be a safer building exercise for your legs than traditional squats because of the compactual pressure that runs down the spine during the entire squat sets.
